Castlevania season 2 gets a new trailer
Netflix just published a new trailer for the Castlevania animated series’ upcoming season 2. Fans were delighted by the first season, although it only featured four episodes in total. However, critics and gamers find the adaptation of the beloved gaming franchise superb and Netflix heard the call, so we will get eight episodes in season 2 which will air on October 26th, this year only on Netflix.
If you know Castlevania, you know that the plot usually pits a Belmont against Dracula and his army of darkness. This time, it is Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades and Alucard (Dracula’s son) who will take the fight to the master of darkness. Season 1 introduced us to the main characters and the story arch, namely that Dracula wants to take revenge on humanity for he sees them as responsible for his wife’s death. Technically he is right. However, he plans on destroying the entirety of mankind. The only ones brave and powerful enough to stop Dracula and his army is the trio of heroes.
However, if you need a more in-depth summary, look no further than one of our earlier articles to get a quick recap of the first season and what we thought about it.
Now let’s have a look a the new trailer:
Hell is upon us
This trailer shows us that the second season will all be about classic Castlevania action with badass fight scenes, beautiful animations, and a killer soundtrack. They seem to have improved upon every aspect and will probably focus on the action since most of the exposition was done during season 1.
The first 30 seconds show us an intense fight scene between the three heroes and a group of dark creatures. We see Alucard fight with his signature blade and white, long hair, we see Trevor and his beloved whip, and Sypha casts a massive fire spell on the creatures. They make a great team together even though the clip is probably a very early fight scene, compared to what we will see later on.
The following 90 seconds give us a glimpse of the different places we will see and enemies that will take up the fight for Dracula. Dracula talks to his generals about humankind and why he deems them unworthy. We see different locations, vampires, and other atrocities that our heroes investigate and fight during this trailer. It is also made clear that “normal humans” won’t have a chance against Dracula’s army, as we see them getting slaughtered without much effort.
And to top it all off, the bombastic soundtrack is mixed with different sound effects, ranging from clashing swords to vampires drinking blood and other horrible noises that come from the darkness.
Bigger, better, bloodier
Season 2 promises to pick up the pace from where we left off in season 1 and enhances every aspect that made it a success in the first place. Even if you are not a fan of the game series, this is just a joy to watch for fans of animated films or series in general. Especially if you are into anime/manga like Hellsing or Vampire Knight, you will enjoy this series.
I’m curious about how the story will develop and what will happen once Alucard clashes with his father in the inevitable end of this nightmare.
